Fall Charities...Who are they?

Well, as most of you know, our Fall Barn Sale is just around the corner and we could not be busier...
I just wish it would start feeling like fall outside...I know you other Texans agree!

One of the parts of our sales that excites me most is being able to highlight and support different ministries, charities, and non-profits both locally and around the world.

For our 2 fall sales we wanted to give to the orphans, prisoners, and widows.
We are focusing on the first two for the fall sale and supporting widows at our Christmas in the Country sale!

First up is....

Parental Care Ministries

Parental Care Ministries
The Father's Love in Action
Caring for children and equipping pastors in Uganda

Isaiah 61: 1 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because  the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and freedom to the prisoners.
Parental Care Ministries exists to help poor and orphaned children of Uganda by meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in the context of Christian schools. We also equip 40+ pastors to spread the Gospel throughout Uganda.

Please read more about their heart and showing God's love in action!

 Secondly, we are supporting...

 Karios Prison Ministry International

The slogan of Kairos:
Changing Hearts, Transforming Lives, Impacting the World
is the essence of what Kairos does.
During the initial Kairos weekend, Kairos volunteers serve as God’s instrument through which His love, grace and mercy are expressed to the participants/guests in a real and profound way. God begins changing hearts.
Following their weekend experience, participants/guests are encouraged to take responsibility for their life choices and their relations with God; they are invited to engage in small accountability groups. Kairos volunteers continue to return monthly to provide mentoring and guidance through these accountability groups. It is here that Kairos participants/guests begin to replace old ways of thinking with new and they learn they are not alone on this journey. They realize there is a hope for a future. The prison environment begins to change; family relationships start to heal…..God is transforming lives.
As the Kairos community inside a prison grows and begins to gain influence, the incidences of violence decreases. Participants who are released re-enter the outside world with a God-centered perspective and equipped to become productive citizens. Female family members find support, strength and encouragement. Incarcerated participants who are released re-enter the outside world with a God centered, perspective and focus on becoming productive citizens. Female family members find support, strength and encouragement. Youthful offenders acquire new God centered values and change their direction in life. Families are reunited with a hope for the future.

Just Dreamy!

Here's a quick before and after...I love this bed! I also have painted the matching vanity and a sweet side table, no pictures of those...But if you come to the barn, you'll see them all together!

The details are darling and charming and I just wanted to curl up in it and take a good nap!
It's going to look so cute in the barn and even better in someone's room!

Happy Friday!

I wonder if....

Do any of your projects start out like this?
I wonder if I could paint this furniture like that or use this finish or that wax? I have to say many of my projects do! The other day I was wondering about trying chalk paint on metal...I had heard you could use it, but I wanted to try it out for myself! ( I'm hard headed that way!)

Here's my metal 5 gallon container...I loved the shape, but wanted to jazz it up with some color!
I also painted some frames while I was at it!
 See the lettering detail now?

I love the blue and orange combination...I used Provence Chalk Paint!
It's better, don't you think?

Have you tried Annie Sloan Chalk Paint YET?
What are you waiting for????
Annie continues to add new colors also.

Here are 2 places you can buy it! Both have wonderful service and have helpful advice!

What do you say to ORANGE?

I was ready for a change...ready to paint in a different, maybe even WILD color ( for me!)
I was looking at blogs one day and saw a darling dresser painted entirely in orange and needless to say, I got inspired! But I wasn't sure about the whole piece being orange, so I stained the top and drawers dark.

I even painted the hardware... It think it makes the orange color stand out better...I spray painted the hardware orange, distressed them some, then used dark wax, and then used a spray sealer.
Here is the "before" and yes, It is the twin to the dresser in my last post!

Sometimes when I paint in a new color or want to try out a different wax or sealer finish, I paint a frame in the same color first. See the orange frame above...I wanted to try the dark wax on it before I tried it on my dresser... I liked it this time, so dark wax it was!
The top of the dresser has a nice "worn" look to's not perfect, but I really like the "look" on this piece.
Have you tried any new paint colors or finishes recently? I wanted some pumpkins for the pictures, but could not find any real ones in the stores yet! Maybe the color will get you in the mood for fall! (and possibly even Football if you live in TEXAS, says this AGGIE!)

Cooler days are straight ahead!
